The daily posts about food and exercise have all but ceased. A recent family emergency has taken all of my focus but I haven't faltered on my program. My only indiscretion was a trip to Chick Fil A where I had a fried chicken sandwich and french fries. I had the regular "cheats" of a piece of dark chocolate and portion controlled the occasional sweet treat but have been really good. I even lost a pound or two.
The lesson here was feeling the gratification of sticking to the plan for the long-term benefits. I tend to internalize health scares too so the healthy habits are helping me feel like I am doing the right thing for my own future. I said this earlier in the week to a group of friends and it holds true. In times of crisis, we (humans) tend to go to food for comfort. We cook for people we want to make feel better and when we feel bad or are sad, we lean on food to give us pleasure.
I am lucky enough to have a great support network of sisters and friends who give me comfort that no food could provide. I get comfort from the people around me and food keeps me healthy and strong.
REMEMBER THIS: FIND COMFORT FROM HEALTHY PLACES AND REMEMBER FOOD'S ROLE IN YOUR LIFE!
